Multiple sources from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have confirmed that Mr Mike Igini remains the Akwa Ibom state resident electoral commissioner. This is in reaction to fake news published mostly online yesterday that Igini often referred to as Mr Integrity has been redeployed from Akwa Ibom to Bayelsa.
While also speaking on the issue, Mr Igini during a peace accord meeting with Gov. Udom Emmanuel and other gubernatorial candidates reiterated that he remains the resident commissioner in Akwa Ibom while an Akwa Ibom son, Elder Monday Udo Tom who was sworn in by Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC Chairman, at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja is in charge of Bayelsa.
Respondents have also argued that it would have been improper to change the INEC commissioner in less than two weeks to the presidential election.
