Nathaniel Bassey Confirmed for NOW!
Born in Lagos, Nigeria but a native of Ikot Ofon Ikono, Uyo LGA in Akwa-Ibom State, Nigeria, Nathaniel Bassey has been one of few remarkable Nigerian Worship exports to the World. His music prowess and Grace in Worship is traceable to his childhood days when his father, Mr E. Joshua Bassey ministered in The Apostolic Church and through his following of the icon Dr. Panam Percy Paul, and on to his foray into jazz music following the likes of Kirk Whalum, Phil Driscoll, Hugh Masekela and others.
It led through his time at a jazz quartet in Lagos, Spectrum 4, till he worked with Elder Steve Rhodes to lead an illustrious Jazz Orchestra the Steve Rhodes Orchestra as band leader and lead trumpeter making a strong impression on outstanding performers like Teemac, Ayo Bankole Jr, Cobhams Asuquo, Wole Oni, Yinka Davies, Adlan Cruz, Funsho Ogundipe, Peter King, Sotiris Papadopoulus, Paul Petersen, The French Cultural centre, American International School, who all at one point or the other sought his peculiar flair.
His journey then swerved into a mainstream music hiatus as he commenced a time of Spiritual renaissance mentored by Late Pastor Eskor Mfon of RCCG City Of David.
During this time, Nath served in church exclusively, totally neglecting his already budding career. By the time he reemerged, however, he was a leading light in gospel music.
Some of his worship songs, though written in vernacular, have been on millions of lips world over across vastly divergent cultures and faiths. And then in 2017, he routed his strong passion for omni-participating worship into the #HalleluiahChallenge, a campaign on Social media that swept across Nigeria and onto other parts of the world with notable mainstream figures joining in.
At #UyoNOW2018 Nathaniel Bassey will not only be back home, he will be hitting congregation with his highly in-demand music flair and popular songs. This will be #WorshipUnconvention
