The leader of the Akwa Ibom state house of Assembly and member representing Oruk Anam state constituency, Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan has expressed optimism that his constituency, Oruk Anam local government will put in the about 106,000 votes for Gov. Udom Emmanuel and all PDP candidates in the 2019 general elections. Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan made the pronouncement at his hometown, Ikot Esenam on Saturday 1st December during the inauguration of advisory/elders council and campaign committee to foresee the 2019 election.
Rt. Hon. Akpan in his speech described Gov. Udom Emmanuel as the only man in Akwa Ibom that has turned his eyes to look at Oruk Anam as a governor. The law maker commended the governor for the award of contract for the ongoing construction of 3 major roads in Oruk Anam which he said was unprecedented considering the administration has not even stayed up to 4 years . The lawmaker emphasised that “PDP is one big family. From next week, we’re going to welcome more prominent defectors”. “We’re here to show you the people that will drive the campaign of Oruk Anam between 2018/2019. I am prepared for this business. No other person from other parties have that kind of capacity. The 106 thousand Oruk Anam votes will be for the PDP. I’ll enter your ward as a man. Campaign is grass root based and we are going to go round all the villages for the campaign. Our target is to bring in the 106 thousand votes for the governor and other PDP candidates”.
Also speaking at the event, the state chairman of the party, Obong Paul Ekpo represented by the senatorial vice chairman, Pastor Cletus Eshiet, declared that the PDP is unshaken in the forthcoming elections. “We’re unshaken. We’re going to win all the elections convincingly, perfectly and irrefutably to convince the other party that we are on ground”. The chapter chairman of the party, Pastor Jacob King also used the opportunity to advise registered voters who have not collected their voter’s card to do so to enable them vote in the forthcoming elections. ‘Our support for the governor and other PDP candidates will only count when we vote”. He added.
The executive chairman of Oruk Anam local government council, Hon. Ubong Idiong in his speech during the event extolled Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan as a warrior whose performance in the house of assembly is unmatched. “He’s a pragmatic leader. We will vote in the governor, Senator, house of representative member and our leader, Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan 100% Oruk Anam is PDP.”
